Virginia’s Highland Maple Festival

Take a step back in time to Highland County, Virginia’s Sweet Spot as you travel back roads and mountain byways to one of Virginia’s top festivals – the annual Highland Maple Festival.  Each year, visitors are drawn to this unspoiled, rural region of Virginia to celebrate the “opening” of the trees and observe the process of maple syrup‑making. The Highland Maple Festival was designated a local Legacy by the Library of Congress in 1999.  In 2014, the Governor of Virginia signed a bill into law designating the festival as the “official maple festival of Virginia.”  So, join us for this unique tour as we travel west as we pass Staunton, and over the Allegheny Mountain Range - into the quaint towns of McDowell and Monterey.  A fried trout, ham or chicken lunch is included as well as time in downtown Monterey that includes a stop at the Highland Center for Square dancing!
