Spring on the Island
Chincoteague Island, Virginia
May 12-13, 2021
Chincoteague Island, Virginia’s only resort island is one of the many and perhaps the most popular islands along Virginia’s Eastern Shore. It is famous for its wild ponies and is the gateway to the Assateague Island National Seashore. Day one includes lunch in the quaint town of Onancock followed by an afternoon sightseeing pontoon boat cruise to experience Chincoteague and Assateague Islands in a way that is simply not possible from land. This nature tour will feature a chance for close-up views of the world-famous ponies. Day 2 includes a guided, riding tour to Assateague Island with stops at the Assateague Lighthouse for a great photo op and the new multi-million-dollar Bateman Center, a state-of-the-art, environmentally friendly educational center. Lunch is included in Chincoteague followed by a visit to nearby NASA Wallops Flight Facility. There have been over 16,000 launches from the rocket testing range at Wallops since its founding in 1945. In Floyd, Virginia, your hotel is steps away from the Floyd County Shops and General Store. Join the fun with a tour to Wild, Wonderful West Virginia, home to some of the best scenery and music in the country. We will visit the small town of Monterey, Virginia for lunch and a little looking around, then off to Elkins where the award-winning Gandy Dancer Theatre, West Virginia’s only Branson-style theatre is located! Special for Friday night will be a visit from Elvis! Robert Keefer of Pigeon Forge, TN, an Elvis
impersonator extraordinaire, will make you feel like you are reliving the true days of the “The King” with his special Aloha from Elvis Show. Enjoy Dinner at the theatre before the evening fun begins!
You will be treated to another show the next morning by the fabulous Mountain Memories Show Band. Their Legends Show features music from the 50’s to today, including Country, Pop, Motown, Gospel, and
